What I do
I have extensive experience as a freelance writer but also worked for many years as a copywriter and strategic planner for a leading luxury watch brand. I’ve written award-winning advertising and PR copy, annual reports, web and social media texts, and articles as well as speeches and interview responses for senior managers. I’m also comfortable as a ghost writer, proofreader and editor. I can work wonders with your copy! And with a masters degree in creative writing from one of the world’s best universities, I can take you well beyond the corporate landscape.
Creative, correct and fast
I understand and respect deadlines and am absolutely committed to meeting them. And regardless of how quickly you need your copy, its quality will never be compromised.
Maybe you don’t need a translator
One of the things I enjoy most is helping people create English-language versions of their German or French texts. I’m not a translator but . . . I can read German and French well and I can write a culture-appropriate English version of your text that communicates the nuance and the feeling of the original. It won’t sound like a translation and will resonate with your readers. This is especially useful for advertising, marketing, web and PR copy.
Why me?
My background is more than a bit unconventional.
As an undergraduate in America, sometime in the last millennium, I studied economics, politics and literature but spent the years following my graduation working as a musician. That remarkable time developed my ear not only for music but also for language – its rhythm, its tone and its melody. Later, working in a corporate environment, I learned that every client’s copywriting needs – even among those working in the same organization – are unique.
A lifelong learner
Since 2000, I have been a chronic graduate student and have earned master’s degrees in mass communications (University of Leicester, 2004), world music (University of Sheffield, 2014), and creative writing (Cambridge University, 2017). And now I’m a proud PhD student at the University of Bern in musicology. It’s all part of a commitment to lifelong learning has expanded my horizons, broadened my mind and enhanced my understanding of the world – qualities that are reflected in every copywriting project.
Portfolio
Because I have written so many different types of copy for such wonderfully diverse clients, I would like to share with you examples of writing that are best suited to your specific requirements instead of a one-size-fits-all portfolio. Tell me about your English-language writing and editing needs. I’ll show you my work and discuss how I might be able to support you.
